Gilewicz Law, PLLC

My name is Jack E. Gilewicz and I am the sole attorney and owner of Gilewicz Law, PLLC. I created my firm with the goals of serving “legal deserts”, which are counties with fewer than one attorney per 1,000 residents, as well as serving those who make too much to receive free legal help but still cannot afford the high costs of many attorneys.

With these goals in mind, I am currently taking cases in Vance, Granville, and Person counties (all considered legal deserts) as well as my home county, Durham, and I discount my services based on ability to pay. 

I am able to offer a discount, in part, because I have reduced my overhead by operating as a virtual law firm. This means that for many cases we will meet via video conferencing, but I can also meet at courthouses and public libraries by appointment. I also offer “unbundled” legal services, which allows you to pay for exactly what you need and avoid paying for what you do not. My hope is that my pricing allows those who otherwise could not afford to pursue a case the opportunity to have their voices heard, their needs met, their rights defended.

In order to meet this goal, you may see me driving my grandma’s Toyota Corolla, we may meet at the library instead of a fancy high-rise downtown, and my photographs are most likely from my wedding pictures. I believe a lawyer is fundamentally a service worker, owing a duty to their client above all else, and so I wear my heavily-discounted Kohl’s suits with pride, knowing that it allows me the privilege of serving more people.
